"If you’ve ruptured your Achilles tendon, it is an emergency. We want to take care of you immediately. Get into the office. From that, we’ll evaluate the tendon. We’ll start with X-rays to see if you have a fracture. The Achilles tendon is a very strong tendon at the back of the heel. You typically will feel a loss of the continuity of the tendon. From there we have to order an MRI to see the damage. Do not try to walk on it without crutches. It needs a thorough evaluation, possibly surgical invention if it’s ruptured. Continue to ice and rest it until you’re seen in the office."
